Anti-Müllerian hormone
AMH is a blood marker commonly used when discussing ovarian reserve and expected ovarian response. It should be interpreted together with age, ultrasound findings and medical history.
Antral follicle count
AFC is the number of small antral follicles seen on ultrasound, usually near the beginning of a cycle. It is often used with AMH to discuss ovarian response.
Follicle-stimulating hormone
FSH is a hormone that may be reviewed in fertility assessment, usually with estradiol, AMH, AFC and age rather than on its own.
In vitro fertilisation
IVF is a treatment process involving ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, laboratory fertilisation and embryo transfer or freezing.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection
ICSI is a laboratory technique where a single sperm is injected into an egg. It is often discussed when male-factor issues or prior fertilisation problems are present.
Preimplantation genetic testing
PGT refers to embryo genetic testing before transfer. Scope, eligibility, limitations and costs should be confirmed with the treating clinic.
Frozen embryo transfer
FET is a frozen embryo transfer cycle. Timing depends on embryo status, uterine preparation and clinic protocol.
Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome
OHSS is a potential complication of ovarian stimulation. Risk depends on individual response, medication plan and clinic monitoring.
